What It Means to Sell a Painting

It means so much to an artist when you purchase their work. It says I see what you were saying and it speaks to me, too. It says I want this in my home or office to enjoy over and over again. It says I value something made by a human that took time, thought, effort and I get that it took years of learning and experience to get to this point in their artistic journey. It means I understand the value of one of a kind.  In other word, it means a lot!

My home is filled with art. I don’t think there is a room without a  painting- yes even bathrooms and my clothes closet! And I have an older painting in my garage where I had a big huge empty white wall that cried for color! I have to admit it can be bittersweet to sell a painting. But I can’t keep them all. Sometimes I feel quite sad to see a piece find its new home -to let it go after creating it. But part of me also appreciates that someone wants to hang one of my paintings on their wall and I smile.

I am a little sad but quite happy to say goodbye to these 3 paintings this month.
