All is Calm

Sheep have always charmed me. When I paint them, I’m transported to rolling hills, open fields, and a slower, softer world filled with peace and quiet beauty. Watching them feels like stepping out of the rush of daily life and into stillness.

Artistically, sheep are a delight. Their wool invites playful experimentation—brushstrokes, palette knives, soft blends of whites, blues, greens, purples, and earthy reds. Their forms are simple yet expressive: gentle curves, round bodies, and subtle features. And then there are the eyes—each one offering a hint of personality I love trying to capture.

On a deeper level, sheep symbolize innocence, gentleness, community, and comfort. They remind me of belonging. Painting them feels both meditative and meaningful, a way to express softness in a world that often feels anything but.
I hope you enjoy spending a quiet moment with these gentle ones, and that my final rendition brings a bit of that peaceful world to you. Happy Holidays.
